As we "boomers" age, we have more and more family and friends that are in need of care. Recently my wife's brother was in need of care and in doing research we were fortunate to find this book on line. Having read this book allowed my wife, her family, and myself to use this information for her brother. He was living alone in an apartment and subsequently had to move to an assisted living facility. Hospice was needed as well as the services of the home. Having this book as a guide, we were able to ask specific questions, gather the proper documentation, develop a list of his wants and needs. When he passed, we knew what he wanted to do with his finances, his body, life insurances, and services.Having this information in a simple, easy to read, and understandable format made this critical time as simple as possible.
Susan and Rose spent a lot of time and effort in researching this information which makes it much easier for the rest of us.

It is also a good tool to have to keep our own documentation in order for our spouses and kids. Great work Susan and Rose!!
It is evident that these authors have been there and done that as far as caregiving. This is a manual every family could use, especially those with aging family members. The manual walks you through everything that is necessary to support the family in giving comprehensive care to the aging family member. It is an excellent resource and would be an excellent source of information for professionals to share with their clients and patients.

I had the opportunity to read ElderCare Simplified and what I liked about it most was that is was comprehensive but simple to understand. This is a subject that you just don't consider until its too late. The step by step approach provided great insight into this world of uncharted territory for most of us. The fact is that the time will come when you need this information for the people you care about most! I certainly feel I have a much better understand what to expect and most importantly what I need to do to prepare for these later stages in life.

It's beauty is that it's in the form of a workbook. It offers suggestions on how to handle the issues that your loved ones are experiencing as well as a format for clearly keeping track of your responses. It has outline forms for the things you need to do and a centralized list so that you're not constantly searching for items in various files and locations.

This book, with it's easy to follow format, is a must for anyone who will be caring for elderly relatives. The prompts on how to determine your senior's needs are good cues on how to tell when assistance should begin. Also good are the tips for caregivers. A dear friend in another state ( I am in North Carolina) has recently made the commitment to care for an elderly relative in her home. I am going to insist that she follow these tips to avoid burnout. Thanks for the good information.

The design of the book (size and flexibility) make it easy to store in a handbag or a jacket pocket. The book includes 23 pages specifically allotted to personal information with ample handwriting space. These pages cover the gambit, from ALL medical information, to retirement accounts and funeral arrangements. Any information you may need can be quickly and accurately accessed, whether you are at home and relaxed or at the hospital or nursing home and stressed beyond belief.
