For years a highly dubious "Weapons Report Card" allegedly written by an American soldier serving overseas has been making the rounds on the internet. Unfortunately, this report card is highly inaccurate and full of misconceptions. In this 3,700 word article written by a former Special Forces Weapons Sergeant, the weapons used by American Special Operations forces are examined and reported upon. Rather than an all inclusive, comprehensive report, this article gives a good thumb nail sketch of the wide variety of weapons currently used by US Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as a special focus on exotic weapons and cutting edge systems in the process of being integrated into service. Contains seven photographs from the author's collection, including the bizarre "Chimera Gun" that an Iraqi soldier built in his home from spare parts!

An invaluable resource for researchers, enthusiasts, and those with an interest in the military.

This was a very helpful report. It blows my mind how much has changed since my own military service. I plan to add this to my reference library. And BTW, the M249 SAW was a dependable and accurate weapon when I humped one, but then they were still fairly new compared to now. But boy, were they a pain to clean.

A good synopsis of current military small arms and their good and bad points.
Jack,
These e-books are awesome I have a son entering your community (at Bragg now) and as a parent and the son of a soldier it's a huge help get the type of information you and your AMAZING guys at SOFREP give us....please keep it up.

Thank you for dedicating your years of service so the rest of us can be Free!

BTW I hope you get disgustingly rich for the work you are doing now.....still only a token of what you and others soldiers gave to the USA!!!
This short treatment is a perfect primer for those readers who want to dive into various equipment with the USSF. Written short and to the point and with additional photos in the back-up I highly recommend this to aficionados who want info before they jump into a massive, very expensive technical pamphlet. The author speaks from experience here, and you can tell. All I can ask is even more, very in-depth sequels to "Report Card"
For $.99 and only 3,700 words I wasn't expecting much. The description says this isn't a "comprehensive report" but I was still disappointed this was only a list of weapons used with a very short surface level description of the weapon.

I wouldn't call this a Report Card at all. No "real" information was provided regarding reliability, durability, etc. For example, only one paragraph was written on the M4. For the M4 there was ZERO discussion of performance, reliability, how the weapon did in dust, nor any discussion of how the weapon is performing during prolonged firefights. Same with the M249... only one paragraph with no performance information.

Wikipedia gives you much more information than this... and is free.

I am giving this 2 stars simply because I want to encourage somebody to actually do a good job writing a Weapons Report Card.
Quick inventory and description of weapons in use by US Army Special Operations Forces I Iraq and Afghanistan at the time it was written.
